Viktor Vervliet founds Vivet Cosmetics

In the aftermath of the First World War, commodities were in short supply. This did not go unnoticed by hairdresser Johanna van den Bogaert, who had trouble finding the hair products she needed. Her husband, Viktor Vervliet, decided to take matters into his own hands. In 1927, he founded Vivet Cosmetics, which specialised in hair and beauty products ranging from shampoo to perm machines.

The family business flourishes

Vivet Cosmetics developed into a flourishing wholesaler thanks to various acquisitions and collaborations with production companies, with the second generation jointly at the helm. Despite the family’s significant expansion (Viktor’s daughter alone had seven children), the third generation was somewhat tentative about getting on board.

René Nagels channels his passion into Nannic

After a long and successful run, grandson René Nagels decided to leave the family business to focus on his passion: developing science-backed cosmetics. This meant further mastering the language of chemists, scientists, and – most importantly – skin. René decided to pursue a degree in cosmetology in Brussels. He immersed himself in scientific literature and surrounded himself with specialised lab technicians with whom he exchanged ideas. In 2001, he channelled this knowledge and passion into founding Nannic.

Nannic embraced as a pioneering skincare brand

The Nannic team spent more than twenty years developing skincare products, expanding its range to include professional skincare devices for beauty institutes, body and face products for at-home use, self-tanners, and a haircare line that stimulates hair growth. Inspired by René’s passion for science and skincare, the company developed groundbreaking formulas that garnered international recognition and acclaim. Just a few years after its foundation, these pioneering formulas were embraced and adopted industry-wide.

Ambitious new leadership

René and his wife Tine spent years transforming the family business into a key player in the skincare industry. In 2023, they decided to pass the torch so that René can spend more time on his main passion: unlocking the mysteries of healthy skin to create new skincare products.

Entrepreneur Luc Jeurissen took over the company and was joined by Stijn Martens and Niels Prys. Their ambition is to put Nannic on the international map by developing innovative products, forging strong cross-border partnerships, and maintaining an unwavering belief in the Nannic philosophy.
